Why do I shoot Boudoir?

Not long ago, someone asked me why I’m so passionate about boudoir photography.
To be honest, the way she asked made me feel like she was a little skeptical—like boudoir was something frivolous or shallow.

It stopped me in my tracks. Why do I love it so much? Why has boudoir stolen my heart and become the centre of my business?

Here’s the truth: I’ve been a professional photographer for over 12 years. I’ve shot weddings, fashion, portraits—you name it. But every time I photographed boudoir, something different happened. Something magical. ✨

I’d watch a woman walk into my studio—often nervous, sometimes doubtful, always brave. She’d hand over her trust and let me guide her. And by the end of the session? She’d be standing taller, radiating a confidence she didn’t know she had. She’d float out of the studio glowing from the inside out.

That transformation filled my soul in a way nothing else ever did.

And that’s when it clicked: this isn’t “just a photoshoot.” It’s empowerment. It’s a reset button. It’s real, powerful, life-shifting stuff.

Who books a Boudoir Photoshoot?

Women come to me for so many reasons:

A milestone birthday
A sexy treat for you both, win-win!
A celebration after illness or surgery
A new chapter after a relationship ends
Hitting a personal goal or achievement
Or just because...

Most of the time, it’s not about the photos (though those are stunning). It’s about what the experience represents.

As women, we spend so much of our lives nurturing others—kids, partners, family, work—that we forget to nurture ourselves. Somewhere along the way, we lose sight of who we are beyond all those roles.

A boudoir shoot is often the moment where that shifts. It marks the end of one chapter and the exciting beginning of another.

Why I LOVE Boudoir

For me, this work doesn’t feel like work. Every day, I meet incredible women who inspire me, teach me, and remind me what sisterhood looks like.

When I started, I thought it was about creating beautiful pictures. Now I know—it’s about helping women see themselves again. To draw out that spark, that confidence, that magic they’ve always had but maybe forgot was there.

And here’s the best part:
Boudoir isn’t about lingerie. It’s not about being “sexy.” It’s not about being a certain size or shape.

It’s about:

✨ Accepting yourself fully
✨ Valuing who you are—right now
✨ Feeling damn good, without guilt

And I get to witness that transformation every single day. That’s my job. Honestly? I feel pretty lucky.

So when that woman asked me why I love boudoir so much, I told her exactly this.
And then—you guessed it—she booked a shoot. 😉
